E600 Mathematics

This page collects all material related to the course available for download.

First, you can find the lecture slides and the problem sets we discuss in class here. Hand-written sketches of solutions to the exercises (homework & in-class problems) are uploaded after they are discussed in class. Some problems are also taken from the website’s collection of exercises where solutions are available.

Second, you can download the companion script here. It constitutes a more extensive and formally thorough variant of the online course, and may serve as your reference for digging into mathematical relationships beyond the scope of the online course. In contrast to other educational scripts for mathematics for economists, it is specifically designed to cover the material most relevant to your Master’s studies in Mannheim, and also to be self-sufficient, that is, it introduces all concepts in consistent notation and makes no (or at least: as little as possible) reference to results and relationships that are not previously introduced and explained. The contents of the companion script may be edited from time to time, please make sure that you always have the current (or at least: a reasonably recent) version of the script if you intend to use it for studying.
